At Upwind Kite Surf School Barbados we are dedicated to giving you the safest and most educational Kitesurf Lessons from our team of fully IKO certified instructors. With almost 2 decades of experience in Kitesurfing and Kitesurfing lessons, we are honored to pass on all of our knowledge and skills to you to get you into this sport or to improve your current kitesurfing level.

Beginner Lessons

The average time it takes to learn Kitesurfing  is approximately 6 – 10 hours.

Please note that  kitesurf lesson hours may vary depending on your ability to learn!

1 – 2 hours – Introduction to Kitesurfing

• Learning to set up the equipment and understanding all the necessary safety procedures.
• Learning the basics of flying the kite and building full kite control.

2 – 4 hours – Introduction to the water.

• Learning to fly the kite in the water and body-dragging in both directions.
• Learning the necessary water basics and preparing for the introduction of the board

4 – 6 hours – Introduction of the board.

• • Learning to body-drag with the board and learning the basics of water-start.
  • Water-starting in both directions and taking your first riding attempts.

8 – 10 hours – Riding and working on your positioning on the board.

• Learning upwind riding techniques and intro to learning transitions.

Progression Lessons (for advanced riders)

Twin Tip Freestyle

• Learn to do jumps, backrolls or any other twin-tip tricks
• Learn unhooked jumping, unhooked raileys or any other unhooked freestyle tricks.

Directional Surfboard

• Learn the technique to transition from a twin-tip to a directional surfboard
• Learn to jibe or tack on the directional surfboard
• Learn to do bottom turns and ride the waves.
• Learn advanced wave riding techniques.

Strapless Surfboard

• Learn the technique to ride a directional surfboard without straps.
• Learn strapless wave riding.
• Learn strapless freestyle tricks; strapless airs, transitions, board grabbing techniques.

Hydrofoil

• Learn to safely ride the hydrofoil and learn the different hydrofoiling techniques.
• Learn advanced hydrofoiling tricks; jibe, tack, duck tack, switching stance on board, downwind foiling, highspeed foiling
